Case Study: Alcatel-Lucent achieves agile test automation and stronger coverage with Conformiq Model-Based Testing

The customer, Alcatel-Lucent, sought to assure quality for its new OpenTouch™ Conversation software client developed in an agile, two-week sprint process. Their challenge was managing a large, evolving set of interdependent user stories and maintaining a dynamic test plan that could keep pace with development while ensuring rigorous coverage. To address this, they employed Conformiq for model-based testing.

Using Conformiq, the team created high-level models from user story families to automatically generate test cases. This solution directly supported their agile process, allowing the test plan to be quickly updated as features were added, removed, or changed. The results were significant: 364 automated regression tests were created, which led to the filing of 107 bug reports. Approximately 40% of these bugs were regressions caught by the automated campaigns, demonstrating the effectiveness of the Conformiq implementation.
