SecurityScorecard taps Confluent to cost-effectively power real-time security prevention at scale

SecurityScorecard, a global leader in cybersecurity ratings, was struggling with escalating costs and the operational burden of running Apache Kafka themselves and with Amazon MSK, which lacked a complete streaming platform for their needs. To solve this, they partnered with Confluent and adopted a hybrid approach using Confluent Platform alongside Confluent Cloud to support real‑time, large‑scale data collection and processing.

Confluent implemented managed Confluent Cloud clusters, Confluent Platform on‑prem, and fully managed connectors (plus Cluster Linking, RBAC, Stream Governance and ksqlDB) to offload infrastructure management and power their Horus scanning and streaming pipelines. The results with Confluent include more than $1M in TCO savings, roughly $125K/year saved versus MSK, a 48.3% reduction in projected annual operating costs, an estimated 80% reduction in Day‑2 operational burden, 10–100x greater ingest/processing scale (including scanning 1,400 ports in under two weeks), freed FTE capacity, and improved global reliability and governance.
