Q2 Software Adds Near-Real-Time Alerting to Its Digital Banking Platform Using Confluent Platform

Q2, a digital banking platform used by one in ten U.S. digital banking customers and a third of top domestic banks, faced scaling and performance limits from legacy, monolithic batch-and-polling systems that slowed alerts and couldn’t meet real-time needs or strict FI security requirements. To deliver near‑real‑time customer alerts and a more scalable architecture, Q2 partnered with Confluent and adopted Confluent Platform with Apache Kafka.

Confluent helped Q2 design and deploy an event‑driven architecture — including an HTTP endpoint for FIs, Schema Registry, Confluent Replicator, mutual SSL/Active Directory authentication, and Control Center for monitoring — that moved the alerting system into production. The Confluent Platform implementation simplified Kafka adoption and operations, cut latency and improved resiliency, improved alert responsiveness by orders of magnitude, delivered a secure, scalable design across datacenters, and supports Q2’s platform that moves about $1.5 trillion annually.
