A Confluent Case Study
Celmatix, a bio‑tech company transforming women’s reproductive health with genomics, machine learning and whole‑genome sequencing, faced the challenge of extracting, normalizing and securing highly heterogeneous EMR and partner genetic data while delivering real‑time insights to physicians. To overcome scalability and data‑quality limits, Celmatix adopted Confluent’s streaming solution, using Confluent Platform (built on Apache Kafka) to support its real‑time data strategy.
Confluent implemented a streaming pipeline including Schema Registry and Kafka Connect to pull, anonymize, clean and standardize EMR data, stream it into relational stores, and feed Celmatix’s proprietary models on demand. As a result, Confluent enabled harmonized, manageable data across clinics, real‑time access for physicians, simplified engineering processes, and rapid onboarding of new clinics—giving Celmatix clear market differentiation and the ability to scale.
