Case Study: DATEV eG achieves cloud-native transformation and unlocks mainframe data with Confluent

A Confluent Case Study

Preview of the DATEV eG Case Study

How DATEV Used Confluent to Unlock Its Mainframe Data to Build Cloud-Native Applications

DATEV eG, a long-standing cooperative that provides software and consulting to German tax advisors (processing millions of payslips monthly), needed to transition its mix of mainframe and on‑premise products to a cloud‑native, microservices architecture while integrating legacy mainframe data. To build a scalable, event‑driven backbone and offload Kafka operations, DATEV eG partnered with Confluent, adopting Confluent Platform components (Connect, Schema Registry, Replicator, Confluent Operator and RBAC connectors) along with Confluent’s Professional Services and training.

Confluent delivered an event‑driven streaming solution that unlocked mainframe data for cloud‑native applications, enabled over 100 microservice use cases, and provided a fully automated developer deployment pipeline; DATEV eG also saw significant reductions in mainframe processing and networking costs. Confluent’s consulting, resident architects and premium support accelerated Kafka adoption, created self‑service for developers, and helped DATEV eG release features faster and scale services reliably.
