Deutsche Bahn Delivers Reliable Travel Information to Millions with Confluent Platform

Deutsche Bahn, which serves 5.7 million rail passengers daily, needed to deliver up-to-date, accurate, and consistent travel information across stations and its mobile app. To build its RI‑Platform and meet that challenge, Deutsche Bahn partnered with Confluent, using the Confluent Platform and event streaming to power the passenger information system.

Confluent implemented an event-streaming solution that aggregates real-time travel data from multiple sources into a single source of truth feeding station displays, announcement systems, and the DB Navigator app. The Confluent-powered RI‑Platform now handles 180 million events a day for 24,000 trains, achieves 99.9% availability, provides accurate real-time information, simplifies development and environment complexity, and enables faster delivery of new capabilities.
