Demonware Modernizes Real-time Data Pipelines to Serve Millions of Gamers Around the World

Demonware, a subsidiary of Activision Blizzard that powers online services for titles like Call of Duty and Skylanders, faced scaling limits with a database-based data pipeline that suffered high I/O during game launches and spikes. They needed a platform for high-volume, real-time event data access to support diagnostics, leaderboards, transactions and analytics—so they turned to Confluent, deploying Confluent Platform with Apache Kafka.

Demonware implemented a Kafka-backed real-time pipeline with Confluent’s platform and support, enabling reliable, accurate streaming and faster team ramp-up. The deployment now processes roughly 1.5 TB of event data and about 3 billion messages per day, delivering increased reliability, real-time insights for designers and analysts, and the ability to process data at scale with Confluent-assisted operational support.
