A Confluent Case Study
Arcese Group, an Italian global logistics company, needed to differentiate itself by delivering real-time track-and-trace and forecasting for customers with tight JIT requirements—where minutes can mean heavy penalties. To solve slow, legacy pipelines (45–50 minute lag), CTO Massimiliano Catapano chose Confluent’s fully managed, Kafka-based data streaming platform deployed in the cloud (Azure/GCP) to bring data in motion across the supply chain.
Confluent implemented a cloud-native, fully managed Kafka solution with pre-built connectors (including a direct Kafka-to-Microsoft SQL Server connector) that reduced end-to-end track-and-trace latency from 45–50 minutes to under one minute. The change improved forecasting and opened the door to predictive analytics, lowered operational and staffing burden, freed the IT team to build new services, and provided scalable, multi-cloud streaming that can enable new revenue streams.
