A Confluent Case Study
Amway, the world’s largest direct selling company, faced a tightly coupled legacy IT architecture that slowed delivery of new capabilities to its customers and Independent Business Owners (IBOs). To eliminate dependencies, move data in real time, and enable teams to work independently, Amway engaged Confluent and adopted an event‑driven approach built on Kafka and Confluent’s managed streaming platform.
Confluent implemented an event‑driven architecture (Kafka topics, ksqlDB and connectors) to decouple systems and publish legacy data as streams, enabling concurrent ERP and omnichannel launches. The result: time‑to‑market estimates were halved, millions of dollars in consulting and mainframe/message‑queue costs were avoided, continuous real‑time QA for IBO bonuses was achieved, and multiple transformational projects were delivered faster—demonstrating clear cost savings and operational speed gains with Confluent.
