Alight Solutions Increases the Pace of Digital Deliveries with a Unified Data Platform

Alight Solutions, a leader in technology-enabled health, wealth and human capital management, faced slow customer-facing applications, high mainframe costs, and complex integrations across many back-end systems. To build a low-latency forward cache and simplify development, Alight partnered with Confluent and adopted Confluent Platform (powered by Apache Kafka) to stream and centralize data from mainframes, Java apps and cloud services.

Working with Confluent engineers and training teams onsite, Alight implemented a Unified Data Platform that uses Confluent Platform to power near‑real‑time streaming pipelines and subsecond cache refreshes for roughly 70 million records. Confluent’s solution reduced demand on z/OS and lowered mainframe costs, accelerated delivery of customer-facing solutions, enabled integration with cloud services like Salesforce, and created a scalable platform for future innovation.
