Moving from Excel based quotes to new automated CPQ process, Chatsworth doubled sales

Chatsworth Products, Inc. (CPI) is a leading manufacturer of structural support systems for IT infrastructure with about 450 employees and a catalog of over 10,000 part numbers (650 cabinet sizes and millions of possible configurations). Its growth was constrained by a technical, hard-to-maintain custom configurator and Excel-based quoting, which made online ordering error-prone and too complex for new users; CPI needed a web-based, intuitive configurator that let a first-time user configure a cabinet in under three minutes, maintain rules internally, and drive sales through distributors.

CPI selected and implemented Configure One’s Enterprise Product Configurator (Mar–Oct 2005), deploying an interactive e‑catalog, guided configuration, automatic BOM/part-number generation, and automated quotes with distributor routing. The solution eliminated configuration errors, enabled data-driven decision making, and drove e-commerce growth — more than doubling cabinet sales volume, increasing web traffic to ~30,000 visits/month, growing to over 11,000 registered users (≈400/month), and replacing thousands of Excel templates with automated quoting (~200 quotes/month).
