A Condusiv Technologies Case Study
Goodwill Industries of the Valleys, a non‑profit with over 1,000 employees, faced serious storage and performance problems: SharePoint backups took four to five hours and frequently timed out, the Kronos workforce system became sluggish at peak times, and Matthew Thompson spent about 40 hours per month fighting file fragmentation on an HP LeftHand SAN — enough that a costly SAN replacement was considered.
They deployed Condusiv’s V-locity I/O‑reduction software on Windows VMs (using IntelliWrite and IntelliMemory), which optimized I/O at the source without new hardware. SharePoint backups were cut to about two hours, I/Os per GB dropped from 16,162 to 5,982 and throughput rose from 86.5 to 162.7 GB/hr, Kronos throughput doubled (2.64 → 1.26 min/GB; max 22.72 → 47.54 GB/hr), and fragmentation was essentially eliminated, reclaiming the 40 hours a month previously spent managing the SAN.
