Community Hospital Speeds EHR and SQL Applications with V-locity I/O Reduction Software

Community Medical Center (CMC) in Falls City, Nebraska, is a general medical and surgical hospital that needed a FAL remediation solution to keep its MEDITECH EHR available 24/7 and to address sluggish performance from an aging storage backend. With limited budget for hardware refreshes, clinicians were losing time waiting for images and screens to load, so CMC sought a software-based fix that would boost performance without costly forklift upgrades.

Condusiv’s V-locity I/O reduction software was deployed as a “set-and-forget” solution across 35 key virtual servers (MEDITECH, NextGen/MS‑SQL, Exchange, Citrix, etc.), using IntelliWrite to eliminate fractured I/Os and IntelliMemory to serve hot reads from idle DRAM. In three months V-locity offloaded 43% of read traffic and 29% of writes (over half a billion I/Os avoided), producing a median savings equivalent to 157 days of storage I/O time and delivering typical application improvements of 50% or more—extending storage life and preventing costly downtime.
