A Condusiv Technologies Case Study
CHRISTUS Health, a multinational system operating roughly 350 hospitals, outpatient centers and clinics, faced serious performance problems after virtualizing its server environment in 2012—most notably on 70+ servers running the MEDITECH EHR. Latency and sluggish throughput impacted clinical workflows and pushed nightly medical-billing batch jobs into daytime hours, and the organization was looking to avoid a disruptive $2 million SAN storage upgrade to resolve the issues.
CHRISTUS deployed Condusiv’s V-locity software, which optimizes I/O at the OS layer by consolidating writes, caching hot data and preventing NTFS fragmentation (via the MediWrite engine), cutting I/O traffic by 50% or more. The result: overnight elimination of performance problems, a doubling of patient-record access speed, billing batches reduced from 20 to 12 hours, and avoidance of the planned $2 million hardware purchase.
