Bell Mobility Implements V-Locity - Increases Workload Throughput by 98% in Virtual Environment Bell

Bell Mobility, the wireless division of Bell Canada, runs a large virtualized environment supporting SQL, web, file servers, Citrix farms and internal VMs. Faced with rapid data growth, excessive I/O, SAN bottlenecks, high latency and failing backups, the OSS team needed to improve IOPS and response times so critical metrics and reports could be processed reliably.

They deployed Condusiv’s V-locity across their Windows VMs, using IntelliWrite and IntelliMemory to eliminate split I/Os and cache hot data at the server. Benefit Analyzer showed a 61% reduction in I/O to the SAN and overall workload throughput improved by 98 (processing rose from 3GB/24hr to 9GB/24hr); backups sped from ~10MB/min (sometimes failing) to 60–120MB/min and completed successfully, enabling delayed hardware purchases and more efficient use of existing infrastructure.
