A Condusiv Technologies Case Study
Admiral Metals, a precision metal supplier since 1950, depended on a proprietary Visual Studio application with an SQL backend and ShoreTel VOIP servers to run day-to-day operations. After virtualizing, they still experienced significant lag and weekly reboots during peak query loads—symptoms the IT team attributed to the “I/O blender” effect and excessive I/O traffic.
They evaluated and deployed V-locity on Windows VMs, which uses IntelliWrite and IntelliMemory to reduce and sequentialize I/O at the source and includes a Benefit Analyzer for before/after validation. The result: throughput nearly doubled, I/O to process 1 GB fell from 43,000 to 22,000 operations, average I/O size increased from 24 KB to 45 KB, and roughly 400,000 I/Os were removed per server per day—eliminating peak-load lag and the need for weekly reboots.
