Their challenge was that existing energy efficiency ratings only accounted for a building's shell, not the emissions from appliances used by occupants. The agency needed a simple online process to facilitate this new, more comprehensive ZNC assessment for builders.

Conduct designed a web tool that calculates a home's energy usage, offsets, and required solar PV system size. The solution simplified a complex, jargon-heavy process into an easy-to-use interface that imports industry data and allows for user input. This tool supports volume home builders in developing more zero net carbon homes, bringing Sustainability Victoria closer to broader standard uptake and helping Victoria meet its residential greenhouse gas emission targets.
