Aging Imaging Platform Replaced with SharePoint Solution

Dart Container, a manufacturing company, needed to replace its aging IBM imaging platform that had been in place since the 1990s and could no longer rely on supported storage hardware. The system had to manage more than 16 million documents, add 30,000–40,000 new documents each month, support HIPAA-covered records, and better integrate with the company’s ERP environment. Dart turned to Concurrency, Inc. and KnowledgeLake’s SharePoint-based ECM tools to evaluate a modern replacement.

Concurrency, Inc. helped Dart design and deploy a SharePoint solution using KnowledgeLake Capture, Connect, Imaging, and later Unify, with integration prepared for SAP and other business applications. The new platform enabled auto-indexing, reduced manual print/scan/index steps, improved security and scalability, and allowed Dart to keep all training in-house because the tools were intuitive. Dart is migrating 11 million documents into the new environment, has already moved over 1 terabyte of data, and is rolling out the system across departments to support 4,000–5,000 search users and 50–100 imaging users.
