Hedge Fund Company, a financial services hedge fund, needed a better way to segregate access controls across teams and protect business-sensitive data in its on-premises Windows file servers. The small security team was relying on rules-based methods and folder-level permissions, which left gaps in compliance and made it difficult to meet regulatory requirements such as FINRA. Concentric AI’s semantic intelligence platform was chosen to address these data risk and compliance challenges.

Concentric AI scanned more than 6 million files and used deep learning to group them into thematic clusters, identify sensitive documents, and flag incorrect entitlements and sharing permissions. The solution found about 0.05% of documents were high risk, including roughly 100 files with incorrect group permissions and 200 with wrong user-level permissions, allowing the security team to remediate issues quickly without manual rule creation or upfront configuration.
