Boosting Data Security at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy

The University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy, a higher education institution with 500 employees, needed a better way to protect sensitive student and staff data and stay FERPA compliant. Its existing Microsoft Purview setup was proving too cumbersome and inaccurate for classifying sensitive information, especially student data, across Microsoft cloud services.

Concentric AI provided a solution that integrated with the university’s Microsoft environment and enhanced its existing Microsoft Information Protection labeling taxonomy without requiring extra infrastructure. Concentric AI quickly classified data, identified previously hidden risks such as sensitive files shared externally, and automatically remediated some issues. The university reported rapid deployment, improved visibility into risky data, less manual review work, and estimated the support from Concentric AI’s team was like having a half FTE.
