A Comsol Case Study
ZINK Imaging needed a way to make a detailed COMSOL Multiphysics model of a multi-pixel thick‑film thermal print head accessible to non‑expert users and to present live, interactive simulation results rather than static charts. They worked with Comsol and used COMSOL Multiphysics 5.0 features—specifically the Application Builder and COMSOL Server—to simplify the model interface and enable standalone or web deployment.
Using Comsol’s Application Wizard and the Form and Method editors, ZINK quickly produced a working app (the wizard yields a basic app in minutes; further embellishment took about a day) that exposes inputs like electrode count and width, lets users click electrodes to apply voltages, runs meshing/solving with a progress bar and chime, and generates reports including 1D temperature profiles and detector‑normalized results. Comsol’s solution converted a complex model into an intuitive, deployable app, speeding development and broadening access to live, interactive simulations.
