Viega designs 60,000-square-foot snow-melt systems with Comsol

Viega, a designer and manufacturer of radiant heating and cooling systems, faced the challenge of designing complex systems for nonstandard commercial applications like transportation centers and ski resorts. They needed to provide engineering data to support their designs and quickly iterate on plans for prospective customers. To meet this challenge, they turned to vendor Comsol and its COMSOL Multiphysics® software for multiphysics simulation.

Comsol's solution enabled Viega to build simulation applications that could be shared via COMSOL Server™. This allowed Viega's sales team to adjust parameters like water temperature in real-time during customer meetings, providing immediate visualization and invaluable engineering support. The results were highly effective systems for major projects like the ARTIC transportation center and Sun Valley Ski Resort, where Comsol's tools helped design over 60,000 square feet of snowmelt systems that enhanced safety, reduced maintenance, and optimized energy consumption.
