A Comsol Case Study
Roche Diagnostics Operations, Inc., a leader in healthcare diagnostics, faced challenges in optimizing the accuracy and reliability of its glucose monitoring sensors. Sensitive to chemical interferences, environmental conditions, and manufacturing tolerances, the design of the test strips required careful analysis. To address this, Roche turned to multiphysics simulation software from the vendor COMSOL, specifically utilizing COMSOL Multiphysics.
COMSOL enabled Roche's principal scientist to simulate chemical reactions and electrical responses within the sensor. The solution involved analyzing different electrode configurations and materials to predict performance. Through this simulation work with COMSOL, the Roche team optimized the sensor design to maximize sensitivity to glucose while minimizing the impact of manufacturing variances, ultimately achieving a better understood and improved integrated sensor design for patient use.
