Mahindra Two Wheelers optimizes motorcycle NVH designs with Comsol using simulation apps

Mahindra Two Wheelers faced the challenge of optimizing the sound of their motorcycles, needing to balance regulatory pass-by noise requirements with the powerful, rumbling exhaust sound expected by riders. They partnered with Comsol and used multiphysics simulation to study noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) in their engine, intake, and exhaust system designs.

The solution implemented by Comsol involved using multiphysics analysis and the Application Builder. This allowed Mahindra engineers to create a simulation app for comparing analysis files and plotting sound pressure level data, enabling them to optimize structural designs to maximize low-frequency noise and minimize high-frequency noise.
