Konica Minolta cuts OLED light losses in half with Comsol

Konica Minolta sought to improve the brightness and efficiency of organic LEDs (OLEDs) for use in flexible electronics, as the technology suffered from significant light loss. To address this challenge, researchers from Konica Minolta utilized simulation software from the vendor Comsol, specifically COMSOL Multiphysics®, to study their OLED designs.

Using Comsol's software, the team simulated electromagnetic fields and light emission for various nanostructured cathode geometries. This allowed them to determine an optimal configuration. As a result of implementing this Comsol solution, Konica Minolta was able to cut light losses in their OLED design in half.
