KMTC optimizes cover glass manufacturing with Comsol and validates heating results against real-world measurements

Kornerstone Materials Technology Co., Ltd. (KMTC), a company specializing in high-tech material development and production, faced the challenge of optimizing its complex and costly cover glass manufacturing process. To meet growing customer demands and improve production, KMTC partnered with Comsol and utilized its COMSOL Multiphysics® software to model and evaluate the multiphysics phenomena involved in the overflow down-draw process.

Comsol's solution enabled KMTC to build multiphysics models that coupled fluid, structural, thermal, and electrical phenomena to simulate manufacturing in real-time. The team also used Comsol's Application Builder to create simulation apps, which streamlined collaboration between R&D and production departments by allowing engineers to run complex analyses without simulation expertise. This approach optimized process conditions before mass production, improved team efficiency, and provided data that served as guidelines for manufacturing, ultimately predicting and improving final glass sheet quality.
