GrafTech International optimizes graphite products with Comsol apps

GrafTech International, a company that develops carbon and graphite products, needed to better understand and optimize the electrical, structural, and thermal performance of its materials for various applications. To achieve this, they turned to simulation software from the vendor Comsol.

Comsol provided a multiphysics simulation solution, which GrafTech used to create custom simulation apps. These apps, deployed via COMSOL Server™, extended simulation capabilities to sales engineers and customers, allowing for tasks like comparing heat transfer among graphite foils. This approach enabled GrafTech to deepen its theoretical understanding beyond experimental data and optimize product performance for applications such as heat spreaders in electronics.
