Continuum Blue worked with an independent furniture test house to tackle the time-consuming, costly process of certifying chairs to EN/BS/ISO/ANSI standards. As a Comsol Certified Consultant, Continuum Blue used Comsol Multiphysics along with the Application Builder and Comsol Server to create a simulation-based testing tool that lets clients upload chair geometries and virtually assess whether a design will meet static load and long-term fatigue criteria before building prototypes.

Using Comsol, Continuum Blue developed a validated numerical model and user-friendly app that simulates contact, deformation, stress, and predicts cycles-to-failure, automatically flagging yielding or catastrophic failure. The solution lets designers run dozens of virtual tests, cutting the number of costly physical prototypes and re-tests, speeding certification, and enabling the test house to distribute the app to clients worldwide via Comsol Server.
