BLOCK Transformatoren-Elektronik reduces prototyping needs with Comsol

The customer, BLOCK Transformatoren-Elektronik, faced the challenge of designing custom coiled products like transformers and chokes to meet exact specifications for frequency, size, and losses while needing to control development costs. To address this, they turned to vendor Comsol and implemented the use of their COMSOL Multiphysics® software for multiphysics simulation.

The solution implemented by Comsol allowed the engineers to simulate designs, such as analyzing temperature distribution in an air-cooled DC choke and magnetic flux density in a toroidal choke. This use of simulation software significantly reduced the number of physical prototypes required, thereby lowering development costs before a design was finalized.
