AltaSim Technologies reduces microwave filter size with Comsol

The customer, AltaSim Technologies, used COMSOL Multiphysics software combined with the RF Module from vendor Comsol to address a key challenge in wireless design. Engineers needed to develop compact microwave filters with specific performance requirements to fit into increasingly smaller spaces within advanced digital systems.

Comsol provided the simulation environment that enabled AltaSim to model a novel filter design using fractal spiral resonators. The solution allowed them to compute the device's scattering matrix and assess its performance within strict geometric constraints prior to fabrication. This resulted in a filter design that met passband frequency requirements while offering a significantly reduced size compared to conventional resonators.
