A Compuware Case Study
The IMT Group, a Des Moines–based P&C insurer founded in 1883 with more than $300M in assets, depends on a legacy mainframe that is now being modernized. IMT’s transition focuses on re‑platforming select applications and converging mainframe and non‑mainframe development so web and mobile teams can work with back‑end resources; both goals require complete application visibility, accurate identification of “dead code,” and easier collaboration between veteran mainframers and newer developers.
To meet those needs IMT expanded its long‑standing use of Compuware tools—Xpediter, File‑AID and the Topaz suite (Workbench, Enterprise Data and Program Analysis with Runtime Visualizer)—bringing graphical code views, drag‑and‑drop file management, a common cross‑language editor and fast dead‑code detection. The solution boosted developer productivity, eased re‑platforming, reduced technology risk, improved cross‑platform collaboration and business agility, and helped deliver better customer engagement.
