A major North American telecom service provider that operates mainframe-based service management, billing and CRM applications across multiple LPARs was struggling with outdated, custom-built source code management (SCM) processes. Legacy tools and manual procedures couldn’t keep up with rapid change: deployments were error-prone, version cleanup was inconsistent, and auditing, traceability and repeatability were unreliable—making SCM slow, tedious and risky.
After a 10-month evaluation and migration effort the company adopted Compuware ISPW (integrated with Topaz), working closely with ISPW staff to redesign and automate processes for their multi-customer environment. The result: developers now run 50–100 production changes per day with automated, auditable deployments, consistent library cleanups and far fewer errors—only one rogue old-version slip since go‑live—freeing significant staff time and delivering repeatable, traceable SCM.
