Case Study: City of Pittsburgh modernizes permitting and licensing with Computronix POSSE PLS

A Computronix Case Study

Preview of the City of Pittsburgh Case Study

How the City of Pittsburgh's implementation of a POSSE solution led to a 40% increase in revenues with a 500% increase in permit activity

The City of Pittsburgh wanted to replace a patchwork of legacy software and manual, paper-driven permitting processes with a single, web-based system that would make public interactions faster, simpler, and more transparent. To support this goal, the city selected Computronix and its COTS+ permitting and licensing solution, POSSE PLS, as the foundation for its enterprise-wide OneStopPGH platform.

Computronix implemented OneStopPGH to handle permits, licenses, registrations, reservations, certifications, zoning approvals, and related services online from end to end. The solution brought plan reviews in-house, reduced initial plan review time from 23 days to 12 days, enabled concurrent zoning reviews, improved interdepartmental coordination, and strengthened reporting for code enforcement; it also helped drive permit activity from $200M to $1.2B and improve customer experience through online self-service, chat, and call center integration.
