Royal Yachting Association migrates 1 million records with ComputerMinds

Royal Yachting Association needed to update its outdated Portsmouth Yardstick race analysis website. The challenge was to create a new site that could reliably and accurately calculate yacht handicaps by processing large amounts of race data without performance slowdowns. They also needed the site to be user-friendly for editors and members, with reporting and certificate capabilities. ComputerMinds was hired to tackle this project using Drupal.

ComputerMinds used Drupal to build a secure and easy-to-use CMS that served as a foundation for processing custom data. They translated the existing handicap algorithms into precise mathematical calculations, reorganized data storage, and created unique user profiles for data entry. The solution included new data visualization tools and a PDF certificate generator. ComputerMinds successfully migrated approximately 1 million records and moved hosting to Platform.sh for a flexible, high-performance infrastructure, resulting in a faster site that helps clubs process race data more efficiently.
