A Computer Modelling Group Case Study
Computer Modelling Group worked with NUTECH to address the challenge of optimizing unconventional well development in the Eagle Ford. NUTECH needed a way to better understand hydraulic fracture behavior, parent-child well interaction, and the key reservoir parameters that most affect project economics, using CMG’s reservoir simulation workflow and products such as Builder, GEM, Results, and CMOST-AI.
Computer Modelling Group helped NUTECH build simple physics-based models with hydraulic fractures, history match three wells on a pad, and run spacing and completion design scenarios. The workflow showed that at 1,000 ft spacing there was little room for infill development, and similar studies at 800 and 1,200 ft supported economic analysis to identify optimal well spacing and fracture design.
