Preview of the Department for Work and Pensions Case Study

Delivering devices to home workers, transforming offi ces and Front of House, and supporting fl exible DWP working

Computacenter worked with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), the UK’s largest welfare department, as the Coronavirus pandemic caused an unprecedented surge in demand and left many of its 80,000 employees unable to work safely from offices or home. DWP needed to quickly equip 28,000 staff with workplace devices and also adapt its operations for COVID-compliant office working and public-facing support, while continuing to deliver critical benefits services to millions of citizens.

Computacenter provided a flexible workplace and networking service, including procurement, build, deployment, device cleaning, office transformation, and Front of House network rollout. It rapidly built and configured up to 1,500 laptops per day, shipped 150,000 items to 28,000 users within eight weeks, completed 37,000 office desk transformations, built 59,000 new devices, cleaned 29,500 existing devices, and helped stand up 200 new and temporary locations, enabling DWP to maintain services throughout the pandemic and improve collaboration, mobility, and user satisfaction.
