Case Study: City of Munich achieves standardised risk management and improved security with Computacenter

A Computacenter Case Study

Preview of the City of Munich Case Study

Computacenter, working with it@M standardises and simplifies future risk scenarios for the City of Munich

Computacenter collaborated with it@M, the central IT service provider for the City of Munich, to address a major challenge. The city's 20 decentralized organizations had developed various, and sometimes non-existent, approaches to risk analysis over time. This inconsistency, driven by complex structures and a lack of resources, made it impossible to compare results and ensure comprehensive security, particularly for departments handling sensitive data.

The solution involved Computacenter developing and implementing a standardized, centralized method for conducting threat and risk analyses. This included creating hazard catalogues, questionnaires, and templated processes. The outcome was a significant reduction in the time spent on analysis, high acceptance from all involved parties, and the establishment of a comparable, future-proof risk management framework. Computacenter's work provided the City of Munich with a consistent overview of risks and improved overall information security awareness.
