Case Study: GASAG achieves faster SAP performance with Computacenter and SAP HANA

Computacenter implements HANA database technology at Berlin-based GASAG AG

GASAG AG, a major gas distribution network operator and energy service provider in Berlin, faced a highly competitive market that required high-performance information systems for fast analysis and decision-making. To address this, they partnered with vendor Computacenter to migrate their key SAP systems, including IS-U Network and Sales and their ERP system, to the SAP HANA database technology.

Computacenter implemented a virtualized environment using dedicated SAP HANA database servers with Cisco UCS blades, completing the migration within five months. This solution dramatically improved system performance, reducing data loading times from ten minutes to just seconds and enabling complex business analyses to be completed in hours instead of days. According to GASAG, the project significantly improved productivity, provided a stronger competitive advantage, and laid the foundation for future technological upgrades.
