A Compugen Case Study
The University of Winnipeg turned to Compugen when its aging server farm of 70 rack-mounted systems became difficult to manage, increasingly unstable, and costly to maintain. Older hardware required constant patching and upgrades, failures were becoming more frequent, and replacement parts were harder to source.
Compugen designed and implemented a VMware virtual infrastructure on Cisco UCS blade servers with a NetApp SAN, migrating physical servers into virtual machines and mentoring the university’s IT team to complete the rest in-house. The result was a reliable, high-availability environment that let the university provision new servers in minutes instead of weeks, improved application performance, and reduced datacentre space, power, and cooling needs.
