A Compugen Case Study
Vancouver Community College (VCC) faced a significant data protection challenge when it had to rapidly enable remote learning and secure access to its systems during the 2020 shutdown. The post-secondary institution needed a secure, cloud-based backup solution that was agile, API-driven, and less resource-intensive to manage than its on-premise system, especially given the education sector's high risk of ransomware attacks. To address this, VCC partnered with vendor Compugen to implement Commvault's Metallic solution to safeguard its data in Microsoft Office 365.
Compugen provided a solution by SaaSifying VCC's backup systems with Metallic, moving data protection to the cloud. This provided superior security and simplified management, allowing VCC's IT staff to focus on security governance and facilitating self-restores for users instead of maintaining hardware. The outcome was a significantly strengthened security posture and peace of mind, knowing their data was fully protected and easily restorable, which enabled the college to thrive in a hybrid learning environment.
