Case Study: Reliance Home Comfort achieves scalable growth and improved performance with Compugen

A Compugen Case Study

Preview of the Reliance Home Comfort Case Study

Poised for growth, the new Reliance datacentre has scalability and power on tap

Reliance Home Comfort, a leading Canadian provider of heating, cooling and water heater solutions, needed to separate its IT environment from the Protectron security business after a divestiture. With infrastructure and data located in Montreal, the company had to move Reliance systems to Toronto while keeping the remaining environment running smoothly, all under a tight deadline and with minimal disruption. Compugen was brought in to help plan and deliver the transition.

Compugen designed and managed a new high-performance virtual datacentre using Cisco UCS blade servers, Cisco networking, NetApp unified storage, and VMware. The migration was completed on schedule in ten months, consolidating Reliance’s systems onto three server racks and simplifying maintenance and management. The new environment improved database query performance by an average of four times, increased capacity by 25% almost immediately, and provided the scalability needed to support the acquisition of National Home Services.
