Case Study: City of Mississauga reduces storage costs and backup time with Compugen and HP storage solutions

A Compugen Case Study

New storage strategy reduces storage needs, costs and backup/restore issues for City of Mississauga

The City of Mississauga worked with Compugen to address rapidly growing storage demands across structured and unstructured data, with volumes increasing 20% to 30% annually. Its legacy HP EVA storage environment was struggling to keep up, and the city was increasingly concerned about the reliability of its backup and restore processes.

Compugen recommended a new storage architecture built on HP 3PAR StoreServ 10000 SANs at the city’s primary and secondary datacentres, plus HP X9000 Network Storage Systems to support a more automated disk-to-disk-to-tape backup process. The result was nearly 70% more effective storage capacity, a reduction in expected 2016 storage needs from 500TB to 350TB, backup windows cut in half, and near-instant restores with fewer errors and lower operational costs.
