New IP telephony solution gives Queensway Carleton Hospital a scalable platform for growth

Queensway Carleton Hospital (QCH), west Ottawa’s only full-service community hospital, needed to replace an aging and unreliable wireless telephone system that could no longer support its expanding operating room environment and 24x7 care needs. Compugen helped address the challenge by proposing a new Cisco-based IP telephony and wireless solution, leveraging the hospital’s existing Cisco IP data network and integrating with its legacy PBX environment.

Compugen implemented Cisco Call Manager Unified Communications Manager, Unity Voice Messaging, Cisco Aironet access points, wireless LAN controllers, and wireless handsets to create a scalable platform for wireless voice and data. The new system improved reliability, added advanced call management and voicemail capabilities, and provided redundancy for continuous operation while enabling a slow migration that minimized disruption and helped control costs.
