A Compugen Case Study
Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU), a four-campus institution serving 17,500 students, was struggling to keep up with growing computing demands while controlling costs. Its traditional desktop-PC model was becoming too expensive to refresh and maintain, and an earlier thin-client approach could not handle newer multimedia applications or required peripherals.
Compugen implemented a modern virtual IT infrastructure built around Citrix technologies including XenApp, XenServer, EdgeSight Server and NetScaler, along with Dell Wyse thin clients and AppSense Management Suite for user virtualization and centralized policy management. With Compugen’s solution, KPU gained centralized application delivery, improved support for end users, reduced costs, and extended thin-client lifespan—its student thin clients lasted about eight years without replacement, compared with two PC refresh cycles over the same period.
