Leading University in Quebec modernizes 30+ buildings with Compugen and 6,000 access points

A leading university in Quebec faced a significant challenge with its aging campus network. The decade-old infrastructure could no longer support the demands of its community, suffering from frequent support issues and an inability to provide reliable coverage. The university had an ambitious vision for complete wireless coverage, requiring a massive scale-up from 1,500 to nearly 7,000 access points. They needed a strategic partner to help them completely rebuild their network from the ground up, leading them to work with Compugen and HPE Aruba.

Compugen, in partnership with HPE Aruba, implemented a full architectural refresh of the university's wired and wireless environment. The solution involved the deployment of approximately 500 switches and 6,000 access points across more than 30 buildings. Through a collaborative process including lab testing and on-site support, Compugen helped establish a consistent and repeatable deployment model. The results have been strong, with approximately half of the buildings now running on the new architecture and users reporting faster connectivity and improved coverage, especially in high-density areas. The project has established a clear upgrade path for the entire campus and is considered the largest network transformation in Quebec’s higher-education sector.
