A Compugen Case Study
Nicola Valley Institute of Technology (NVIT), an Indigenous public post-secondary institute in British Columbia, faced a severe ransomware attack that wiped out its systems and halted operations. With no incident response plan in place, NVIT engaged its technology vendor, Compugen, to remediate the attack and restore its environment to ensure the semester could start securely and on time.
Compugen rebuilt NVIT's entire technology infrastructure, modernizing it with the latest operating systems, security patches, and anti-virus software. The solution included migrating to Microsoft Teams for collaboration and replacing the network's core components. As a result, NVIT experienced zero successful cyberattacks in the following 18 months and was well-prepared for the rapid shift to remote learning, enabling students to return for the January semester on schedule.
