First West Credit Union Chooses Compugen’s Green4Good Program for Strategic IT Asset Disposition

First West Credit Union, a large British Columbia-based credit union serving 171,000 members across 70 locations, needed a better way to manage end-of-life IT assets. Its stockrooms were often clogged with old desktops, laptops, monitors, and printers, and the manual recycling, donation, and secure data-wiping process took too much time and effort for IT staff.

To solve this, First West Credit Union worked with Compugen’s Green4Good program for IT asset disposition. Compugen picked up decommissioned equipment, wiped data, and either recycled or resold assets depending on residual value, returning net resale proceeds to First West. The result was a more efficient, transparent, and environmentally friendly process that freed up IT staff time, reduced disposition costs, and helped fund charitable donations through the First West Foundation.
