Excelleris Technologies, a provider of healthcare information distribution services in British Columbia, faced the challenge of modernizing its aging data center infrastructure. Their need for a highly available and secure system to support business growth necessitated a major transformation. Compugen implemented a solution based on the Cisco Unified Computing System (UCS) and Hitachi Unified Storage SAN. This allowed Excelleris to consolidate approximately 60 physical servers into a single UCS chassis with only four or five blades. The transformation resulted in a significantly reduced physical footprint, lowering power consumption and cooling needs. Furthermore, Excelleris saved nearly 50% on co-location fees and realized additional savings in software licensing and operations.
