Edmonton Catholic School District achieves near-zero downtime with Compugen

The Edmonton Catholic School District (ECSD), a large school district with 96 schools, faced challenges with system downtime and security. They struggled to form a clear technology vision and needed a more robust, enterprise-level system to guarantee high availability for users. They partnered with vendor Compugen for a solution that involved Cisco networking equipment.

Compugen designed and implemented a 360-degree solution featuring data centre and ISP redundancy, as well as load-balancing of Internet traffic. This resulted in near-zero downtime for users, with failovers taking less than five minutes. The project was so successful that five years later, ECSD is still using the same high-quality Cisco hardware, saving taxpayer dollars and achieving their goal of greatly improved reliability.
