A Compugen Case Study
CCAA (Canadian Centre for Abuse Awareness), a national non-profit dedicated to eliminating child abuse, relied on donated computer equipment from corporate sponsors to support technology training for abuse victims and partner organizations. Its challenge was that sponsors often wanted to donate older IT assets, while the charities they supported needed newer equipment with stronger capabilities. Compugen’s Green4Good program was brought in to help CCAA address this gap.
With Compugen’s Green4Good, sponsor organizations had end-of-life technology assessed, with usable assets refurbished and resold and the proceeds returned to CCAA as cash and technology credits for new equipment and services. Assets with no residual value were securely wiped, destroyed, or recycled, and donors received asset reports. The result was a creative, environmentally responsible donation model that helped CCAA improve sponsor participation while addressing data security, disposal costs, and the need to direct funds to abuse-victim programs rather than administration.
